The Pinal County Sheriff's Office (PCSO) says a 31-year-old Chandler man is in custody for reportedly trying to lure a young girl for sex acts.
PCSO says Miles Valencia drove to Pinal County, near Florence, on Thursday morning, reportedly with the intent of engaging in inappropriate sexual acts with someone he believed was a 14-year-old female.
Valencia began talking to an undercover detective on a social media app at 6:30 a.m. Thursday.
A PCSO investigator, posing as the minor, made it clear to Valencia that he was "speaking with a 14-year-old girl."
The third message Valencia sent to detectives suggested he was willing to perform inappropriate sexual acts on the minor, according to PCSO.
Within 10 minutes, Valencia reportedly sent inappropriate pictures to our undercover detectives. PCSO says Valencia then drove down to the meeting location to see "the minor." When he arrived, he was immediately arrested by detectives.
“This case is a terrifying reminder at just how quickly predators move to target your children. Valencia did not waste any time, making his intentions clear from the beginning of the conversation,” said Sheriff Mark Lamb. “Please monitor all social media accounts and apps. Predators are even lurking on gaming programs. So talk to your children, know who they are talking to and know who is commenting and liking their posts and pictures.”
The investigation is ongoing.
Investigators believe the suspect had reached out to other children online.
Valencia is facing several charges, which include luring and aggravated luring of a minor and attempted sexual conduct with a minor.
