Flagstaff police are investigating after an 18-year-old woman was pulled into a wooded area and assaulted Monday night.

According to Sgt. Cory Runge, the victim told police she was attacked by a man in a neighborhood near Lake Mary Road. She said the suspect pulled her into a wooded area and physically assaulted her while attempting to sexually assault her as she fought for her freedom.

The attacker eventually let go of the victim as she continued to fight.

The suspect is described as a Native American man, about 6 feet tall with a heavy build and medium length hair wearing large squared prescription glasses and a black shirt and blue jeans.
