Phoenix police are looking for two men who used a skateboard and a baby stroller to rip off thousands of dollars in furniture from a Phoenix hotel.
The Clarendon Hotel is offering $500 and a free night’s stay for information leading to an arrest in Tuesday’s incident.
Surveillance video shows a suspect with a backwards hat and skateboard enter the hotel Tuesday afternoon and ask for water. Later, he leaves the lobby and wheels a baby stroller with items around the hotel to a storage container in the parking lot.
Another man in a tank top and a dark sedan was there waiting. Together, they grab items from the container and appear to struggle while shoving boxes of new mattresses into the vehicle.
After several minutes, the two left separately. The suspect with the backwards hat skated away.
“We have to find who this person is because obviously, he staked the place out. He knew exactly where everything was so he's been watching the hotel,” said Clarendon Hotel events manager Mindy Loleng.
Loleng said the men stole more than $3,000 in furniture and items.
After the break-in, two men returned overnight in a Ford F-150 pickup and appeared to search near the storage container, Loleng said.
“Our night auditor came outside and went to go confront them and that's when they took off in their truck,” she said.
No items were stolen during the second attempt.
In hopes of spurring tips, the hotel is offering a one-night stay in a one-bedroom pool view suite with free breakfast for two and a poolside cabana for the day.
